About

Carlos Norcia (cis, male, queer) is a Brazilian screenwriter and novelist. He likes to move across different media and genres, and sees the craft of writing as a tool that opens up an entire universe of possibilities for those who practice it.

Before moving to Vancouver in 2021, he worked in the Brazilian film & TV industry for more than a decade. Besides teaching at UBC, he is also a content editor & strategist for the Brazilian market at Peliplat, where he edits content related to movies, TV shows, and original stories, as well.

Carlos has an MFA from the UBC School of Creative Writing, and he was awarded an Affiliated Fellowship Award for his thesis.

He sometimes also works as a translator, having translated three non-fiction books from English to Portuguese for DarkSide Books in Brazil.
