We’re excited to present a panel on children’s publishing featuring an editor, publicist and agent. Join Khary Mathurin, Sam Devotta and Amy Tompkins to learn helpful information about this industry.
This event is moderated by Lecturer Jordan Scott.
Sam Devotta (she/her) is the Senior Associate, Marketing & Publicity at Penguin Random House Canada Young Readers. She has a publishing certificate from Ryerson University and can most often be found behind-the-scenes on the Penguin Teen Canada social media accounts. Outside of work, Sam spends a lot of time talking about YA books and pop-punk bands (often at the same time).
Khary Mathurin is an editor based in Toronto, Ontario. In his current role as acquiring editor for Annick Press, he draws on his many years of bookselling experience and his passion for children’s literature to find stories that speak to young readers .
Amy Tompkins has worked in publishing since 2002 and has been with the Transatlantic Agency since 2007. She represents children’s authors, adult authors, select illustrators, and is the international rights agent for Islandport Press. Amy is a graduate of the Publishing Program at Ryerson University, has an MA in English Language and Literature, and is a member of PACLA.
