Before You Apply:


Please review the Guidelines for Prospective CRWR Majors (2018). This document contains all the information you need about how to apply, including how to prepare your portfolio. You can also check out our BFA Application FAQ.

Non-UBC students MUST also apply to UBC for admission in order to be considered for the BFA program. Deadline for UBC application is January 2018. Please see the UBC application site for details.

 

When Will You Hear Back?

When you apply, you’ll receive an email confirming that we’ve received your application form. Admission decisions will be made and communicated to applicants by the third week of May 2018.

BFA Application Form

    You must have 3rd year standing at the beginning of the BFA to be eligible. Generally this requires 54 completed undergraduate credits.
  • If you already have a degree, please note the degree and subject (i.e. BA in English).
  • If you plan to double-major, please note the other subject. NOTE - this is for our information only: you are required to apply and meet other Major program requirements yourself.
    *Specify equivalent in your personal cover letter.
  • The main genre you plan to work in / your strongest genre. This helps us with the initial routing of your portfolio.
  • List other genres you wish to study if accepted, in order of preference.
  • File Upload

    Please upload your documents in MS Word, Rich Text or PDF format. One document per genre only. Please name your files as follows: last name in capitals, first name lower case, then the genre. For example, Charlotte Bronte’s application in two genres would contain three Word documents named as follows:

  • Accepted file types: doc, docx, rtf, pdf.
    Include a letter stating writing experience, which includes: publications, productions, awards, and other significant information including previous workshop experience outside of UBC if applicable.
