Three working writers join our BFA students to explore the range of career opportunities available to cre ative writing grads.
Our evening will start with job sea rch tips from UBC Arts Career Strategist Robyn Stalkie. We’ll have a break for refreshments\, then a panel discussion with playwright Christine Quinta na\, young-adult writer Sarah Suk\, and poet Chelsea Lee Wood.

hristine Quintana (she/her)
Born in Los Angeles to a Mexican-Ameri
can father and a Dutch-British-Canadian mother\, Christine Quintana is now
a grateful visitor to the unceded lands of the Musqueam\, Squamish\, and Ts
leil-Waututh people. Christine is an actor\, playwright\, producer\, and dr
amaturg. Winner of an LA Drama Critics' Circle Award\, Dora Mavor Moore Awa
rd\, Jessie Richardson Theatre Award\, Tom Hendry Award\, a Governor Genera
l’s Award nomination\, and the Siminovitch Protégée Prize for Playwriting\,
Christine’s works have been translated and performed in Spanish\, French\,
German\, and ASL in cities worldwide. Christine is a graduate of UBC’s BFA
Acting Program.
Sarah Suk (she/her)
Meet Me at Blue Hour
\, The Space between Here & Now\, and Made in Korea\, as well
as the co-writer of John Cho’s middle-grade novel\, Troublemaker. W
hen she’s not writing\, you can find her hanging out by the water or making
a loaf of bread. Sarah holds a BA from the University of British Columbia\
, where she completed a minor in creative writing.
Chelsea Lee Woo
d (she/they)
Chelsea Lee Wood is a writer\, visual artist and hair
dresser living on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm\, Sḵwx̱wú7mes
h\, and səlilwətaɬ nations. She holds a BFA in creative writing from the Un
iversity of British Columbia. Her poetry has been published by Plenitude
Magazine\, Artspeak Gallery’s PostScript series and in the limi
ted series collaborative art book Still Life.
