We’re pleased to announce the third annual HarperCollinsCanada/UBC Prize for Best New Fiction. This prize, a collaboration between UBC Creative Writing, HarperCollinsCanada and the Cooke Agency, offers agency representation and a publishing contract to the winning novel. It is open to all UBC Creative Writing students and alumni.
Our inaugural year in 2013 culminated in an impressive shortlist. The 2013 winner, Karim Alrawi, will be publishing his novel Book of Sands with HarperCollins this fall. In 2014, there was an exciting group of submissions, increasing in number from the previous year, and the winner, Chelsea Bolan, will publish her novel In the Place of Silence in 2016.
