Congratulations to Giller Longlisted Faculty & Alumni



UBC Creative Writing faculty members Wayne Grady and Joseph Boyden are both longlisted for the $50,000 2013 Scotiabank Giller Award. The longlist was announced at UBC’s Museum of Anthropology in an event co-sponsored by UBC Creative Writing and the Vancouver Writer’s Festival. Faculty Member Joseph Boyden was nominated for his novel The Orenda, and Faculty member Wayne Grady was included for his novel Emancipation Day. Wayne Grady is also the translator for Louis Hamelin’s longlisted novel October 1970.

In addition, Lisa Moore and Michael Winter, who’ve both taught for UBC as adjunct professors, are nominated for their novels. UBC MFA Alumni Lynn Coady was nominated for her collection of short fiction Hellgoing.
